As they read and index each webpage, search engines compare the information with similar pages. The information they deem to be the best and most relevant to the search term is then ranked first.

Google alone processes 3.9 billion searches per day. On average, that’s 40,000 search queries per second.

In terms of buying potential, 90% of search respondents said they were likely to click on the links in the first page of results.

What’s more, is the respondents of the same study said if they didn’t find what they were looking for on the first page, they’d change their query or search term instead of clicking on the next page of search results.

That tells us that consumers not only rely on search engines to find solutions, but they only trust what they see on that first page.
